Keerthana Prasad has been an artist since childhood, and some may consider her a child prodigy due to her early understanding of colors, lines, and shapes. Her father, Prasad, a sculptor and painter, and mother, Hema Prasad, a renowned painter, both alumni of Chennai College of Fine Arts, were her greatest artistic influences. Stella Maris College in Chennai awarded her a BA in History of Fine Arts with Honors. Keerthana, who was born into an artistic family, began painting at the age of five and went on to win numerous awards throughout school, including national-level competitions. To Keerthana, art is a safe space for expression.
Travels in India and abroad have greatly influenced artist Keerthana's work, bringing a sense of expressionism to her paintings. She works mostly with acrylics and currently focuses on abstracts. She starts with a concept or ided for each painting and projects it onto the canvas, letting the colors intuitively reveal the composition The paintings are developed in response to the energy created between herself and the paint. Her methods have evolved over the years to include essential movements, style and technique. In her latest bird-focused series, Colors of the Wind, you can see her artistic talent and perspective through the vivid colors presented on the canvas. She enjoys drawing and painting for children and adults and hopes to introduce them to the endless possibilities of art.
